STOLEN VEHICLE

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

Detect and find a stolen vehicle, FAST! While monitoring fleet activity with the WEB-CLIENT software you may observe that a vehicle is running when it is not supposed to or has moved out of a normal operating area. As soon as some irregularity is observed you can take action. This may include notifying the authorities. With the WEB-CLIENT software you can QUERY the current location of the vehicle repeatedly directing the recovery of the vehicle.

MOBILE MANAGER can alert you of a stolen vehicle anytime, on your cellular phone. You can arm or disarm the VEHICLE UNIT to send alert messages to your cellular phone. Using the SMS, WAP, BROWSER ACCESS, or WEB-CLIENT you can set one of several ALERT SETTINGS for the VEHICLE UNIT. Events that trigger the alert messages are START/STOP, indicating any operation of the vehicle and EVENT/EMERGENCY where the VEHICLE UNIT has been connected to an alarm system on the vehicle. The settings you can select from are ON ALWAYS, ON TIME and OFF.
  • ON ALWAYS - When this setting is selected all START/STOP and EVENT/EMERGENCY alerts are broadcast to email addresses and cellular phones in the directory.
  • ON TIME - You can set a time range in the system during which you desire a START/STOP or EVENT/EMERGENCY event to trigger an alert message to be generated. When the MOBILE MANAGER setting is ON TIME only alerts taking place within the time range will cause alert messages to be sent to emails addresses or cellular phones in the directory.
  • OFF - When the ALERT SETTING is set to OFF no alert messages are generated.

Anytime you leave your vehicle you can arm the MOBILE MANAGER to alert you that your vehicle may be in the process of being stolen. You can be across the street or across the country and still be able to foil an attempt at your car being stolen.

The EVENT/EMERGENCY input can be connected to any standard vehicle alarm system. Not only will the alarm sound and discourage harm to the vehicle, but you can also receive the alert on your cellular phone that the alarm has been triggered.

To have increased control over use of a vehicle, MOBILE MANAGER will soon include a vehicle starter enable/disable feature. Use the MOBILE MANAGER ALERT SETTINGS to disable the vehicle starter so that the vehicle cannot be started until the MOBILE MANAGER is used to enable the vehicle starter again.

UNAUTHORIZED USE

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

For insurance or operational purposes operation of fleet vehicles may be restricted. An example of this type of restriction is an employee who may be permitted to use a company vehicle to drive to his residence but is not to use the vehicle for personal use. Another example is unauthorized use of a company vehicle during off-hours by employees. If the ALERT SETTINGS are set to ON ALWAYS or ON TIME, alert messages will be sent to the cellular phones or email addresses programmed into the system whenever there is EVENT/EMERGENCY or START/STOP activity of the vehicle. When one of these events occurs the fleet manager receiving the messages can take appropriate action to inquire why a company vehicle is being operated during a time when it should be idle.

This feature of MOBILE MANAGER gives the fleet manager real control that he has not previously had. It serves to discourage employees from using company assets without first obtaining permission. It can contribute to reducing maintenance costs and to longer life of vehicles or equipment.
DISPATCH

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

One of the ways TRAKIT NATIONWIDE can help boost profitability is to increase fleet efficiency. Critical to efficient fleet operation is minimizing the number of miles traveled and time required to complete the jobs to be done. The WEB-CLIENT gives the dispatcher a visual image of where all of the fleet vehicles are, anywhere in the United States . The dispatcher can use this knowledge of vehicle locations to send the closest vehicle to a job that comes in or otherwise manage the activity of fleet vehicles to maximize their productivity.

Alerts from the MOBILE MANAGER contribute dramatically to helping manage the fleet. Knowing when a vehicle arrives or departs at a location can be an indication to the dispatcher to make money-saving and money-making decisions. These START/STOP alerts can be sent to regular email addresses or to cellular phones. The EVENT/EMERGENCY alert from the EMERGENCY/STATUS BOX can also be used to indicate a status to the dispatcher. The driver pushing the button on the box can say “I’m available” to the dispatcher. Dispatching decisions can be made from your desk or anywhere you use your cellular phone!

MONITOR PROGRESS

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

When the fleet vehicles follow a regular route or sequence of stops the fleet manager can be constantly updated on the progress of each vehicle completing the route. As each vehicle arrives or departs each stop a START/STOP is recorded in the system. If the ALERT SETTINGS are set to ON ALWAYS or ON TIME alert messages will be generated and sent to email addresses and cellular phones in the directory. Using the MOBILE MANAGER to monitor the progress of fleet vehicles on a route gives the fleet manager constant updates on progress and the ability to make timely decisions and adjustments that increase efficiency.

EMERGENCY ALERT

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

Know immediately if your driver is in trouble! An event in the vehicle can generate an alert that is sent to email addresses and cellular phones. The VEHICLE UNIT is attached to the EMERGENCY/STATUS BOX or some other 12V sensor such as a vehicle alarm system. When the event is detected a pre-programmed message is broadcast to email addresses and cellular phones in the system directory. The fleet manager knows immediately to take action, whether he’s in or out of the office.
SUPERVISE FLEET ACTIVITY

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

Give your fleet the attention it deserves by using vehicle tracking to closer supervise operations. Efficiency and productivity of less-seasoned drivers benefit from supervisors with more expertise and experience. GPS tracking of fleet vehicles gives the supervisors the ability to monitor operations, to prevent errors or infractions and to provide assistance and advice when needed. Whether the supervisors monitor the fleet with the WEB-CLIENT or with MOBILE MANAGER they keep and eye on what is happening and can take appropriate actions whenever they are required. An additional benefit from closer supervision is that drivers become aware of their accountability. The natural response is to have a heightened motivation to stay on task.
TRACKING

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

Get peace of mind staying in touch with how well your fleet is operating. Regular INTERVAL and START/STOP location reports to the system gives the fleet manager hands-on management capability on a virtual moment-to-moment basis. During the course of a day the fleet manager can monitor activity with the WEB-CLIENT or receive MOBILE MANAGER alerts for each arrival and each departure for each stop of each vehicle. In this way he is constantly aware of the status and progress of each vehicle.
TRAKIT NATIONWIDE

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

TRAKIT NATIONWIDE is a GPS AVL tracking system that provides wide-area coverage (virtually all of North America ) at an exceptionally low cost. Location information is captured in the vehicle and transmitted over the CELLEMETRY communications network to the GLOBAL TRAKIT DATA CENTER.  Access to this data is provided by internet BROWSER ACCESS, MOBILE MANAGER SMS text messaging and WAP internet access and the WEB-CLIENT software.

NATIONWIDE COVERAGE

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

The CELLEMETRY communications network covers, geographically, nearly 100% of the United States. CELLEMETRY is not only functional in larger metropolitan regions but is adequate in most rural areas as well, especially along major and secondary travel routes.
CELLEMETRY

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

Cellemetry is a means of wireless data communications that taps the unused capacity of the cellular telephone network's overhead control channels and the SS7/IS-41 network protocol to deliver two-way short data messages, without affecting the voice channels of the cellular network. Cellemetry provides a communications infrastructure for economical, nationwide GPS tracking of mobile assets. Not restricted by geographic limitations of any specific cellular carrier, vehicles or equipment units can be tracked anywhere in North America.
GLOBAL TRAKIT DATA CENTER (GTDC)

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

The GTDC (GLOBAL TRAKIT DATA CENTER) is a data processing facility located at IDA Corporation International Headquarters in Fargo, North Dakota. The GTDC serves as the data gateway for many applications including GPS AVL tracking, wireless emergency alert systems and construction equipment data acquisition. Data is received from numerous infrastructures including radio, meteor-burst and CELLEMETRY. Access to the data is provided by internet BROWSER ACCESS, WEB-CLIENT software, cellular SMS text messaging, and cellular WAP internet access.

TIME INTERVAL

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

Each VEHICLE UNIT is programmed to one of several plans:

  • GEO- No regular time interval reporting occurs. The unit can be QUERIED to obtain the current location .
  • DAILY- A location transmission occurs once per day when movement is determined. The unit can be QUERIED to obtain the current location.
  • HOURLY- A location transmission occurs once per hour when movement is determined. The unit can be QUERIED to obtain the current location.
  • QUARTER HOUR- A location transmission occurs once every 15 minutes when movement is determined. The unit can be QUERIED to obtain the current location.
EVENT/EMERGENCY

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

An input on the VEHICLE UNIT senses a 12V circuit closure to generate a special location transmission to the GLOBAL TRAKIT DATA CENTER. Any 12V closure sensor is acceptable including the EMERGENCY/STATUS BOX. An EVENT/EMERGENCY transmission can prompt alert messages to be sent to email addresses and SMS cellular phones.
START/STOP

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

An input on the VEHICLE UNIT senses 12V high, 12V low for capturing of stop records. Most often the connection is made to an ignition-on, ignition-off point on the fuse block of the vehicle. These records sometimes referred to as arrival and departure records are used by STOP ANALYSIS in the WEB-CLIENT and MOBILE MANAGER.
QUERY

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

In normal TRAKIT NATIONWIDE operations, the location shown will be the last-reported location for the vehicle. Query will allow an authorized person to send out a request for the current location of the vehicle. This process can take several minutes to accomplish. There is an additional TRAKIT NATIONWIDE cost for queries.
MOBILE MANAGER

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

Use any cellular phone with SMS text messaging or WAP internet capability to access the TRAKIT NATIONWIDE vehicle tracking system. Inquire for the last reported location of a vehicle. Change the ALERT SETTINGS from anywhere to arm or disarm the alert message function. When armed, EVENT/EMERGENCY and START/STOP alert messages and current locations are automatically transmitted to email addresses and cellular phones listed in the directory. Current locations of vehicles can be requested with a QUERY.

ALERT SETTINGS

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

The settings programmed into the system will determine when EVENT/EMERGENCY and START/STOP transmissions will generate alert messages to email addresses and SMS cellular phones. Settings can be input and changed with the BROWSER ACCESS, WEB-CLIENT, cellular phone WAP internet access, or cellular phone SMS text messaging. Vehicles can be independently set or settings can apply to the entire fleet.

SMS TEXT MESSAGING

IDA CORPORATION 800-627-4432

Today nearly all of the cellular phones, from virtually any carrier, have SMS (Short Message System) text messaging capability. SMS provides the ability to send and receive text messages on cellular phones. Messages can be exchanged between cellular phones and also sent to standard internet email addresses. Messages can be sent from cellular phones to internet email addresses as well as received from common internet email sources.

MOBILE MANAGER processes coded SMS messages to return vehicle tracking or system configuration information. An SMS message is addressed to the GLOBAL TRAKIT DATA CENTER (GTDC@trackidaco.com). This address can be pre-programmed in the directory of the cellular phone. Coded messages determine the information being requested. To assure that the setting change was processed, a text message is received by the cellular phone with the requested information or confirmation of the setting desired.
